Safety and order in Uzbekistan's skies

'Uzaeronavigation' Centre is the official Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP) of the Republic of Uzbekistan, ensuring flight safety in the country's airspace since 1991.

Based on Tashkent and Samarkand FIRs, it manages branches in Bukhara, Fergana, Andijan, Namangan, Urgench, Navoi, Termez and Nukus, controlling over 700 flights daily.

History

From 1991 to the present day

Key development milestones and important achievements of the Centre

1991
Centre established
Following Uzbekistan's independence, the 'Uzaeronavigation' Centre (CUAN) was established. Tasks for controlling the country's airspace were defined.
1996
First AS ATC system
An automated air traffic control system (AS ATC) was launched at Tashkent Airport — the first modern dispatch centre in the region.
2002
Regional expansion
AS ATC centres opened in Samarkand, Bukhara, and Urgench. Modern dispatch services established at regional airports.
2008
Navoi Airport
Navoi International Airport was commissioned and air navigation service established. Began operating as a major cargo aviation hub in Central Asia.
2014
Transition to ICAO standards
Air traffic control using absolute altitudes (QNH method) and ICAO measurement units implemented. ADP posts abolished at all airports.
2019
Centralised management
Management of the Nukus responsibility zone transferred to the Tashkent AS ATC centre. The entire Republic's airspace began to be controlled from a single centre.
2021
MANAGAIR INDRA system
MANAGAIR technology from Spain's INDRA company implemented — a modern radar and air traffic management platform successfully launched.
2025
Green ATM accreditation
First in Central Asia and the CIS to receive 'Green ATM' accreditation. A high status in environmental standards was achieved.
